Authorities have arrested and charged a California man with the 1989 stabbing death of a 35-year-old woman in Orange County. The Orange County district attorney's office said Thursday that 63-year-old Douglas Gutridge was arrested last week after he was interviewed by investigators near his home in Lodi and has been charged with one felony count of murder.

The Los Angeles Times cites court records that show a Newport Beach police officer wrote in a declaration that the pair said they were transporting the weapons to the U.S. border for a cartel. The officer called them a flight risk.
